What Is DepositLink and How Does It Work?

DepositLink is a fast and secure online platform that streamlines the process of sending, requesting, and receiving payments—without the need for paper checks, in-person drop-offs, or waiting for funds to clear. It’s designed for agents, brokers, landlords, property managers, and their clients who need a fast, trackable way to move money.

Here’s the typical flow:

  • Create a Payment Request: An agent, brokerage, or landlord enters the payment details (amount, due date, and payer info) directly into DepositLink.
  • Send to the Payer: The system automatically emails a secure link to the payer or buyer's agent, who can review and approve the payment.
  • Connect to a Bank: The payer securely links their bank account using Plaid or other verification options.
  • Funds Transfer: The payment is processed electronically, typically clearing within 1–3 business days, with status updates at each stage.
  • Confirmation & Record Keeping: Both parties receive confirmation, and transaction history is stored for easy access.

DepositLink keeps sensitive information encrypted, tracks every step of the transaction, and helps eliminate common issues like lost checks, unclear payment statuses, or missing documentation.

Who Should Use DepositLink?

DepositLink is built for anyone in the real estate transaction chain who needs to send or receive money quickly, securely, and with full visibility into the process.

It’s especially valuable for:

  • Real Estate Agents & Brokerages: Collect earnest money deposits, rent payments, and commissions without chasing paper checks.
  • Landlords & Property Managers: Streamline rental deposits, rent collection, and move-in fees.
  • Buyers & Tenants: Pay securely from anywhere, without the hassle of delivering checks in person.
  • Title & Escrow Companies: Receive and disburse funds with built-in compliance and audit trails.

Whether you process one payment a month or dozens a week, DepositLink helps replace outdated payment methods with a faster, more transparent, and more professional experience.

FAQs & Troubleshooting for First-Time Users

Do I need to download an app to use DepositLink?
No—DepositLink is a mobile-responsive site that works entirely in your web browser on desktop, tablet, or mobile. Some brokerages may link to it through their internal systems, but you don’t need a separate download.

How long do payments take to process?
Most payments clear within 1–3 business days, depending on the banks involved and the verification method used. You’ll see status updates in real time inside DepositLink.

What if I entered the wrong payment amount or recipient?
If the payment hasn’t been processed yet, you can cancel the request and create a new one. If it’s already processing, contact your admin or our support team for next steps.

Do I have to link my bank account every time I make a payment?
No—once verified, your bank account stays securely linked for future transactions unless you choose to remove it.

What if my bank doesn’t appear in the list when I connect my account?
Some smaller banks or credit unions may require manual verification with micro deposits.

Why can’t I send or receive a payment?
This could be due to pending bank verification, payment limits, missing information in your profile, or a missing account configuration. Check your dashboard for any alerts or errors, or contact DepositLink Support.

How will the payment appear on my bank statement?
Payments processed through DepositLink will show the name “DepositLink” as well as the ACH ID, and any memo information provided, depending on the transaction setup.

Who do I contact for help?
Start with your office admin or broker. If they can’t resolve it, use the in-app widget or email our support team.

Are credit cards available as a payment type?
No—credit card payments are not currently accepted.

What is ACH, and how does it work?
ACH stands for Automated Clearing House, a secure electronic network that moves money between U.S. bank accounts. It’s how DepositLink transfers funds between agents, clients, and brokerages—digitally and efficiently, without paper checks or wire transfers.

What are the benefits of ACH?
ACH payments offer several advantages over checks or wires:

  • Faster: no waiting for checks to clear
  • Lower cost: no wire or courier fees
  • Transparent: every transaction is tracked in real time
  • Efficient: payments and receipts are auto-logged
  • Eco-friendly: paper-free and automated

What forms of ID are accepted for verification?
Acceptable documents include non-expired, U.S. government-issued (state or federal) photo IDs such as:

  • U.S. Passport
  • U.S. Passport Card
  • U.S. State-Issued Driver’s License
  • U.S. State-Issued Identification Card (or Non-Driver ID)
  • U.S. Visa
  • Federal Employment Authorization Card
  • For non-US persons: Non-expired Foreign Passport (only if no ITIN or SSN)
