Bank Account Verification Methods
DepositLink offers multiple ways to connect your bank account, so you can choose the method that works best for your bank and your timing needs.
Each method varies in speed and setup, but all are designed to quickly and reliably confirm account ownership before payments can be sent or received.
Instant Verification Using Banking Credentials (Plaid)- Log in using your online banking username and password.
- Instantly verifies ownership and account details.
- Best for quick setup and immediate payments.
- Enter your bank routing and account number directly into GIACT’s secure form.
- Instantly verifies your account using industry-standard authentication checks.
- Best for banks that support instant verification but aren’t available through Plaid’s directory.
Manual Verification Micro-Deposits
- DepositLink sends two small deposits (usually under .10¢) to your account.
- You confirm the exact amounts in DepositLink to verify ownership.
- Takes 1–2 business days to complete.
- Ideal if your bank isn’t listed in the Instant Verification search.
Security Note: Whether you connect instantly or via micro-deposits, DepositLink never stores your online banking login credentials, account numbers, or routing details.
All verification steps are handled securely by our trusted partners (such as Plaid, Dwolla, and GIACT), ensuring your sensitive information never touches our servers.
Connecting Your Bank Account
Connect with Plaid: With Plaid, connecting your bank account is easy.
- Step 1: Select your financial institution from a list.
- Step 2: Enter your login and password.
- Step 3: Plaid works behind the scenes to build a secure, ongoing connection between DepositLink and your bank.
Connect with GIACT: With GIACT, you can manually enter your banking details. This option is best if your financial institution is not available to connect with via Plaid.
If the GIACT option is not available, contact DepositLink Support for assistance.
- Step 1: Enter your Information in the window that appears. Create a Password, and check the Terms of Service boxes.
- Step 2: The next screen will allow you to enter both your Routing and Account numbers.
- Step 3: The final step will allow you to review and confirm to begin verifying.
Please note: In the event that you are unable to connect your account with the two methods listed above, the third option presented will be Micro Deposits.
Connect with Micro-Deposits: DepositLink sends two small deposits (usually under .10¢) to your bank account. You will then need to confirm the exact amounts in DepositLink in the order in which they were received in order to verify ownership.
Verifying your bank with micro deposits can take 1–2 business days, which may impact funding timelines. If your deal is time‑sensitive, check with your agent before continuing.
Troubleshooting Bank Linking Issues
If you’re having trouble connecting your bank account, try these steps:
- Check your login credentials: Make sure you can log in directly to your bank’s online portal.
- Confirm ACH eligibility: Ensure your account can send and receive ACH transfers (some savings or investment accounts cannot).
- Try manual verification: If instant verification fails or your bank isn’t listed, switch to the micro-deposit method.
-
Contact your bank: Ask if they support connections through Plaid or ACH transfers for third-party services.
If the bank account is removed, there is a 48-hour window to reconnect the same bank from when it was first added.
If you continue to experience issues, reach out to DepositLink Support with your bank name and account type so we can assist further.
